Psychoeducational assessment
Cost: $2000.00 - $2600.00
An assessment helps to understand your child’s, or your own, learning strengths and support needs. This information can then be used to plan intervention that allows your child, or you, to succeed and thrive.
Assessments can investigate a diagnosis of a Specific Learning Disorder (such as, but not only, Dyslexia and Dyscalculia) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Assessments can also provide information that helps investigate other developmental, behavioural and mental health concerns.
The price of an assessment starts at $2000, but may increase, with your knowledge and consent, to $2600 depending on the number of areas to be explored.
What does an assessment involve?
Initial consultation (45 minutes): Discuss your key concerns and reasons for seeking an assessment. We will talk about what you notice that is worrying you, background information that’s relevant to your concerns, and what you hope to achieve through this process. The assessment will then be tailored to meet your needs and goals. There is no obligation to progress to an assessment after this step, and in this case, you will only be charged the cost of a consultation.
Assessment session (1.5 to 4 hours): Complete a series of tasks and activities related to how your child (or you) learns, processes information, and has developed and uses foundational academic skills - reading, writing and/or maths. This will happen in a supportive, empathic environment, at the pace your child (or you) needs to take. This might mean one, two or more sessions to complete the necessary tasks.
Report writing (allow 3 to 4 weeks): Assessment results and other relevant information are combined in a report that summarises your child’s, or your, learning profile. Recommendations will be made for ongoing support that are relevant for your child’s or your context, academic and/or occupational goals, and other needs. If appropriate, a diagnosis will be made and clearly stated.
Follow up consultation (45 minutes): Discuss the findings of the assessment and the recommendations made in the report.
Please note: telehealth (online) services may be an option for some individuals. If this is of interest, it will be discussed during the initial consultation.
Psychological consultation
Cost: $230.00 for a one hour session
Not everyone will need an assessment. You may have had an assessment in the past, or you might already know enough about the needs your child has, or you have, to be able to discuss an action plan. Sometimes, you might not know whether an assessment is even the right step to take. A consultation gives you a chance to discuss what you need with a psychologist.
What does a consultation involve?
Discussion of your key concerns: we will talk about what you notice that is worrying you, background information that’s relevant to your concerns, and what you hope to address in this session.
Development of an action plan: recommendations will be made for ongoing support that are relevant for your child’s or your context, academic and/or occupational goals, and other needs.
Consultations can be conducted in person or using telehealth (online).
Professional supervision
Cost: $230.00/hour individual; $180.00/hour per person group
I am a Board-Approved Supervisor and am able to act as principal supervisor for a registrar program in my area of practice: Educational and Developmental Psychology.
I have extensive experience supporting provisional, early-career, and established psychologists to develop their knowledge of learning difficulties and disorders, their capacity to assess and identify learning difficulties and Specific Learning Disorders, and their ability to develop effective and appropriate recommendations to support the individuals they assess. I genuinely enjoy the process of case formulation and take care to remain up-to-date with assessment tools, educational practices, and education policies in WA and nationally, so that I can provide contextually-relevant support. Additionally, I take great satisfaction in planning a sequence of learning and skill development that is suitable to meet the demands of longer-term supervisory relationships. This includes working alongside primary or secondary supervisors in a collaborative manner.
Literacy remediation
Cost: $130.00/55 minutes
Persistent learning difficulties require systematic, structured, and well-planned remediation. Even very severe learning difficulties can be improved with carefully targeted support.
I have limited capacity to provide literacy remediation to primary and secondary students and adults who wish to improve their reading and writing skills. I have training and several years of experience in high-quality literacy instruction, including evidence-informed approaches and programs like UFLI Foundations, DSF’s Word Origins, Talk for Writing and Talk for Reading. I engage in regular progress monitoring and can provide summary reports for schools and other stakeholders.
